Mrs. Herr asked the students to write a blog post to express how they feel about being required to keep journals as they read their novels.  Here are Lucas’ thoughts…

After we finish a chapter in our book, we journal about it.  I think we should journal every 2 or 3 chapters.  The journal helps us with writing the reviews when we are finished, but I think they are time consuming.  When I finish an exciting chapter, I want to continue, but I have to journal!  I did not think it was helpful when I did my first review; all of the important parts were exciting or interesting so I think I would remember what happened!  But I do forget things a lot, and I think maybe the journals will help.  I won’t complain any more.

HA!  Lucas, as usual, you  have a way of saying things with truth and humor.  I agree that every 3 chapters is probably enough to help you get the main ideas down without forgetting anything too important.  Focus also on what is happening with your characters along the way!  ~Mrs. Herr
