Mrs. Herr asked the students to write a blog post to express how they feel about being required to keep journals as they read their novels.  Here are Jalen’s thoughts…

Ugh, the doing journals is so terrible. It is like a spider because a spider gets on your nerves like journaling.  The writing hurts your hand a lot, and have you ever heard the saying “time is money?”  Do we already get enough homework in class?  Mrs. Herr believes it will help us stretch our abilities and help us when we do our reviews.  In my opinion, I think it is just a time and brain waster. All I think I will get out of this is expanding my reading level.

Ah, well, I disagree Jalen!  I believe your writing cannot help but improve when you have to jot notes about the book along the way.  Also, the more you write informally, the easier it gets.  Then when you have to write a formal piece (like a report or a review), it will be easier!  Good thoughts!  ~ Mrs. Herr
